Dr. Jeffrey Felix, Superintendant of the CUSD, launched a new program in our schools in 2009. Called "CHARACTER COUNTS", the program is administered by the Josephson Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. CHARACTER COUNTS! is the most widely implemented approach to character education, reaching millions of youth.
is
a framework centered on basic values called
the Six Pillars of Character:
trustworthiness,
respect,
responsibility,
fairness,
caring and
citizenship.
is
embraced by thousands of schools, communities, public agencies and
nonprofit organizations for a simple reason — it works.
is
not a curriculum or add-on, but a powerful means to advance curricular
and behavioral goals.
Many thanks to the business community members of Coronado Chamber of Commerce - for their support of the 2009 Character Counts Week!
